Highway Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash that occurred at the intersection of SR 54 and Old Columbus Rd. on August 30, 2017 at 05:17 P.M. in Pleasant Township, Clark County.
A green Chevrolet Spark was westbound on Old Columbus Rd. and failed to stop for the stop sign at the intersection of SR 54 driving into the path a northbound green Dodge Dakota on SR 54. Both vehicle slid off the left side of the intersection after the impact coming to final rest.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Christine M. Bayes, age 47 from Springfield, was taken by Careflight from the scene to Miami Valley Hospital.
The driver of the Dodge, Steve C. Smith, age 49 from South Vienna, was treated at the scene by Harmony Township EMS
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the crash.
Mrs. Bayes was pronounced dead at the Hospital on 08-31-2017.
Clark County Sheriff’s Department and Harmony Township Fire and EMS assisted at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation at this time.
